First Avenue Park

First Avenue Park Before

First Avenue Park is a 3.5 acre passive recreational park located along First Avenue, strategically placed on the edge of the historic Greenville/LaGrange residential neighborhood and is within walking distance of historic downtown Newnan. The family-oriented park was designed as a neighborhood park for play and exercise for the citizens of Newnan.

The park features a large oval shaped walking trail and pathway system that connects both First Avenue and LaGrange Street to the park. A large open grassed multi-purpose field lies within the walkways, and covered pavilions with picnic tables are positioned along the exterior. A separate play area designed specifically for small children is encompassed by a grey crab orchard stone seating wall. The detailed stone work is also used to tie the extensively landscaped park together through a low retaining wall that also serves as additional seating, and the park has several strategically placed columns along the walkways. This park was 100% funded by SPLOST 2002.
